Spend enough time in Flashpoint and you'll hit that moment where a Vaporizer slides into view and the whole fight changes. These things don't behave like the usual flying trash mobs, and if you've been stocking up on ARC Raiders Items for tougher runs, this is exactly the kind of enemy that makes every piece of gear matter. They hover high, soak damage, and punish anyone who gets lazy with positioning. The worst mistake is stepping into open ground for even a second. Once the lasers start coming down, your armour disappears fast and your health follows right behind it. A lot of players treat them like oversized Wasps at first, and that usually ends with a wipe.

Why they're such a pain

The shield is what really throws people off. You tag a Vaporizer, then that barrier kicks in and your opening burst is basically wasted. It feels a lot like fighting the Matriarch, except this thing won't stay still and it keeps pressure on the whole squad. That's what makes panic so deadly here. If you chase it, you're playing its game. If you stand and trade, you're probably done. You've got to wait it out, keep cover between you and the drone, and stop thinking in terms of raw DPS. This fight is more about timing than confidence. A lot of teams lose because everyone starts shooting at once without forcing the shield first.

How to create a clean kill window

The safest approach we've found is simple, even if it feels slow. First, break line of sight and let the drone commit to an angle. Second, bait the shield with something cheap, like a Seeker grenade or a few lighter shots. Third, once that protection drops, hit it hard with the stuff that actually matters. Hullcrackers work. Heavy ammo works. A Wolfpack grenade can do serious work too if you've got the timing right. Smoke helps more than people think, especially when your team needs two seconds to reset. A photoelectric cloak can buy that same breathing room. You'll notice pretty quickly that trying to burn it down in one long peek almost never works. Short exposures, heavy hits, back to cover. That's the rhythm.

Weak spots and team roles

There's still some debate about the exact damage zones, but the propulsion units seem to be the most reliable target. If you can track the thrusters, you'll usually get better results than dumping rounds into the centre mass. Stun tools are also stronger than many players expect. Deadlines and Showstoppers can stagger the drone and, in some cases, knock it low enough for your squad to collapse on it. That said, the Vaporizer is rarely the only problem on screen. You'll often be dealing with Assessors and a pile of smaller enemies at the same time. That means one or two teammates need to stay on add clear while the others handle burst damage. If everyone tunnels the drone, the swarm will punish you before the kill is even secured.

Why players are farming them anyway

As rough as these fights are, people keep hunting Vaporizers because the drops are worth the stress. Vaporizer Regulators are purple-tier components, and right now they're one of the better ways to push your crafting progress without wasting hours on weaker loot routes. If you're trying to gear up for harder content, they matter. A lot of players also keep an eye on U4GM for game items and currency support when they want to speed up that process and spend more time running solid builds instead of scraping by with half-finished loadouts. Either way, if Flashpoint is your main grind, learning this fight isn't optional anymore.
