The current status, opportunities, challenges and coping strategies of sustainable agriculture - Discover Sustainability Agricultural production is the cornerstone of human food security, yet concerns over its long-term sustainability have garnered global attention across research, socioeconomic, and policy domains. While skepticism persists regarding the feasibility of sustainable agriculture, accumulating evidence underscores its irreplaceable role in safeguarding human survival and ecological stability. In recognition of this, the United Nations has enshrined sustainable agriculture as a priority within its sustainable development goals, acknowledging its potential to address pressing global challenges—from food insecurity and climate change to resource depletion and environmental degradation. Despite its promise, translating the concept of sustainable agriculture into widespread practice remains fraught with obstacles. This paper delves into the latest advancements in the field, with a focus on policy frameworks, emerging opportunities, and critical implementation challenges. Through a systematic review and analysis of existing literature, it synthesizes the core principles, innovative practices, technological applications, and future trajectories of sustainable agriculture. While progress has been made globally, large-scale adoption is hindered by multifaceted barriers, including economic constraints, technological gaps, policy inconsistencies, and cultural resistance. This paper emphasizes the imperative of cross-sector collaboration and proposes strategic pathways to accelerate the transition to sustainable agriculture, aiming to provide actionable insights for stakeholders striving to achieve global sustainable development goals.
