A safety bicycle is a type of bicycle that became very popular beginning in the late 19th century. It was designed with a chain drive and equal-sized wheels with pneumatic tires, making it much more comfortable and easier to ride than the high wheeler bicycles that preceded it. The safety bicycle also featured a diamond frame, which was stronger and lighter than the traditional frame of the high wheeler. The safety bicycle also had a much lower center of gravity, making it less prone to tipping over. This design made cycling much safer and more accessible for people of all ages and abilities.
