Jean Antoine de Baif (1532–1589) was a French poet and member of the Pléiade, a group of 16th-century French poets. He was born in Paris and studied at the University of Paris. He was a friend and mentor to many of the other Pléiade poets, including Pierre de Ronsard, Joachim du Bellay, and Jean-François de La Baume le Blanc. His works include poetry, translations, and essays on literature. He also wrote plays in both Latin and French. His most famous works are his translations of Virgil's Aeneid into French verse.
