Software as a Service (SaaS) is a software distribution model in which applications are hosted by a vendor or service provider and made available to customers over the internet. SaaS is one of three main categories of cloud computing, alongside Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS).

In the SaaS model, customers are able to access applications over the internet using any device with an internet connection. The vendor or service provider is responsible for managing and maintaining the application and underlying infrastructure, including security, availability, scalability, and performance. Customers pay for access to the application on a subscription basis or pay-as-you-go model.

The advantages of SaaS include cost savings from not having to purchase and maintain hardware or software licenses, scalability of resources, faster deployment times, improved collaboration capabilities, and enhanced security. Additionally, customers benefit from receiving regular updates without having to manage them themselves.
