Most of Alaska’s wildland fire crews are battling blazes in the Lower 48 after a quiet year at home

Roughly 450 to 500 Alaskans are helping to fight fires in the Lower 48. Wildfires in California and Colorado have forced thousands to evacuate from their homes as the blazes continue to grow.
