Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) is the largest and oldest Dutch public university of technology. It was founded in 1842 by King William II of the Netherlands as a Royal Academy for the education of civilian engineers, for serving both nation and industry, and of officers for the Royal Dutch Army. The university has eight faculties with over 17,000 students and 2,400 scientists, including over 550 professors. Its motto is "Technology for Society". TU Delft focuses on four key areas: Energy, Health, Smart Mobility and Digital Society.
