Life among the Paiutes is a difficult one. They have suffered greatly at the hands of white settlers and the U.S. government, who have taken their land, resources, and autonomy away from them. The Paiutes have been forced onto reservations, where they are often denied access to traditional hunting and gathering grounds, and their children are often sent to boarding schools where they are stripped of their culture and language. Despite this difficult history, the Paiutes still strive to maintain their traditional way of life. They continue to practice their spiritual beliefs, language, and customs in spite of the oppression they face. They also actively advocate for their rights in court and through political action.
