A ripple tank is a laboratory device used to demonstrate the basic properties of waves. It consists of a shallow glass tank of water, with a wave generator at one end. The generator produces ripples in the water, which spread out across the tank and interfere with each other in interesting ways. The ripple tank is used to demonstrate wave reflection, refraction, diffraction and interference. It can also be used to measure the wavelength and speed of a wave.
