With the recent ballistic missile strike by Iran against Israel, and the subsequent offensive by Israel against the Hezbollah in Lebanon, there is worry of a spiralling conflict engulfing West Asia. This comes after many analysts pointed out Iran's restraint when Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran. However, following the killing of Hezbollah figurehead Hassan Nasrallah, there is a growing sense that Iran has chosen to retaliate. With the UN seeming powerless and the US unwilling to intervene, the question is if this is a war Iran wants or if it has no choice.
